Memorystick Pro Duo is now the standard memory card sold for all Sony digital cameras and similar devices. The Memorystick Pro Duo was released by Sony as a memory card solution for the ever growing market in smaller and compact cameras. The Memorystick Pro Duo has now completely replaced the old Memorystick Pro which was approximately one third longer.

Memorystick Pro Duo cards are currently available in the following capacities:, 2GB, 4GB 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. A Pro Duo memory card measures 0.8 x 1.2 x 0.06 inches. They are also available in different speeds. A higher speed card such as the Sandisk Ultra will process data faster. This has two main benefits: 1. Less time to wait between shots 2. Less time to waiti when uploading data to your computer.

Memorystick Pro Duo is used in most Sony devices including digital cameras, PDA's, mp3 players, mobile phones and Playstation Portable (PSP). There are however a number of mobile phones that use a smaller version of this card called the Memorystick Micro M2. Memory Stick Micro M2 Memory Cards

Memorystick Micro M2 was introduced by Sony in 2006. It was released to be used in the new generation of Sony Ericsson mobile phones. As the phones got smaller the need for a smaller Sony memory card grew. At the moment about 70% of all Sony Ericsson mobile phones use the Memory Stick Micro M2. The card itself is only about the size of your little fingernail and shouldn't be confused with the Micro-SD card which is similar in size and is used in a majority of non Sony mobile phones.

The Micro M2 is currently available in the following capacities: 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. The 16GB card can over 16 hours of video which is pretty impressive for something so small.
