There are many types of digital memory cards available today. We have compiled a few pages here explaining the uses and specifications for each format of memory card. This information is here to try to help you decide on which memory card is best for your device. As a general rule there are two main categories of memory cards:photo/video memory and mobile memory.

Photo/Video memory is memory used mainly in digital cameras/camcorders and other digital devices. The memory formats for this type are SD memory cards, SDHC cards, Compact Flash, XD-Picture Cards, Memorystick Pro Duo and MMC Cards. There is also another memory type which will be released late 2010 called SDXC. SDXC memory cards will be capable of storing huge amounts of data up to 2TB. They will be the same in dimensions as SD and SDHC memory cards.

Mobile memory cards are memory cards mainly designed for use in mobile phones. Mobile memory formats are Memorystick Micro M2, Mini-SD and Micro SD.
